Preparing pharmacists
About the Institute
In 1984, the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and two pharmaceutical companies initiated a collaborative pilot program to evaluate the potential contributions of clinically trained pharmacists within a pharmaceutical industry practice setting. Over the past 20 years, the program has grown exponentially to include 13 different companies (including several of the top ten global companies) within the pharmaceutical industry and related medical communications business. Over 450 Post-Doctoral Fellows have completed the Program to date, many of whom are pursuing influential and rewarding careers in the pharmaceutical industry throughout the US and abroad. Over 70 PharmDs now participate in the Fellowship Program annually.

As a graduate of the University of the Pacific, I found that opportunities
in Industry for a new PharmD graduate were very limited. Fortunately, I discovered the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program during rotations last September. I am now a first year Fellow at Daiichi Sankyo in Medical Affairs. In just a few short months, I have also trained with Medical Marketing, New Product Planning, Sales, and in the field with Medical Liaisons. Being a Rutgers Fellow with Daiichi Sankyo is without a doubt my Pathway to Industry!
